About Cristian Macias

A podcast host and video essayist, Cristian (He/Him) is a Video Producer at DualShockers. After completing his English Master's program in 2020, Cristian built a curated portfolio of features and video shorts for sites like ThePenultimateConquest and TechRaptor. Now, Cristian joins the video team at DualShockers creating insightful and entertaining media for both the site and the DualShockers YouTube channel.

Favorite Games and Genres

I'm a huge fan of creative AAA games that push the boundaries of what we consider part of the video game medium. In my opinion, spearheading those efforts in the industry are the likes of FromSoftware, Kojima Productions, Naughty Dog, and Remedy Entertainment.

But Indies will always have my heart. Here are just some of my favorites: Citizen Sleeper, Hollow Knight, Inside, Rocket League, and Signalis.

Industry Focus

As a member of the Video team at DualShockers, my focus is to create a variety of media that exists at the intersection of both insightful and analytical, and of creative and entertaining. You can expect a range of videos covering every aspect of the industry, from the smallest of indies to the year's biggest releases.

First Game Console and Preferred Platforms

My first console was the NES and I distinctly remember being addicted to the crunchy gun shot sound effects of Duck Hunt. However, an apartment fire shortly took our home, and my beloved console, to ash and dust.

Later that year, an uncle visited our family, bringing a long his SNES and a copy of Super Mario World. He loaded up the only save in the game, showing off 100% completion and a quick tour of the arial map. He asked, "Do you want to play?" I responded, "Please!" Exiting and deleting the save file, my uncle passes me the controller, saying "Okay, mijo. This is yours now. Have fun." And the rest is history.

My preferred platforms now are PlayStation 5 and PC, though I'll still dust off my Switch for major Nintendo releases.
